My name is Orlando Soto. I am a sophomore student in the Industrial Biotechnology Bachelor’s Program of the University of Puerto Rico at Mayagüez. I am interested in continuing my graduate studies in Molecular Biology. My current research project is the detection of antimicrobial agents from different regions of Puerto Rico and it is lead by Dr. Carlos Rios. This is my first research experience and it is also the first time I participate in a program such as BioMINDS. I intend to make the most of the activities that BioMINDS offers, particularly the annual reunions and eventual presentation gathering.
